Horizon Treadmills: Price vs. Quality
Horizon treadmills are among the cheapest treadmills in the market. They are considered entry level units. If you would like to buy a treadmill but you are low on budget, then this would probably be the best bet for you. However, if you are looking for good quality, durability, and long life for another home appliance, then you might want to look at other leading brands known for their quality. You might spend a few dollars more, but you also get equivalent value.
Horizon treadmills are manufactured by Horizon Fitness, a division of Johnson Tech, Inc., a well known producer of fitness equipment for home and commercial use. Most of their treadmills are priced below $1,000, a great come-on for the first-time, low-budget buyer. The treadmills have excellent look that is unexpected for that price. Most people are initially attracted by its good looks and low price, but one is advised to look beyond these factors.
For most people whose concern is quality, Horizon treadmills do not offer a satisfactory option. Most experts believe that quality is being sacrificed by the company’s goal of selling more treadmills through a low-pricing strategy. Many of the parts used are of low quality and many are plastic molded, which easily breaks with much use. Another concern by most experts is safety, with Horizon having had a poor track record and having to recall their products twice already.
Because of the above concerns, Horizon treadmills have not received very good reviews from exercise enthusiasts and fitness equipment experts. Most reviews have not recommended these products and are advising consumers not to buy them. They do have a valid reason for doing so. Treadmills usually receive a lot of abuse. In exercising, safety, comfort, stability, sturdiness and durability are primary concerns. Thus for a serious buyer, the primary consideration in buying an exercise equipment should be its safety measures, the comfort it provides; and whether the equipment will last a long time and withstand rigorous use.
Price, however, is such a huge attraction for some people. If you ever decide on this basis despite the warnings, you should just be aware of the risks you are facing and take your own measures to address them.
